Here is a short video and recipe on how to tie a fly I have used for years here in New Mexico. I call it the Red Bead Caddis Fly.
I mainly fish this fly in some of the smaller streams when the fish are not looking at the surface for dry flies and mainly looking for nymphs. I also fish this fly as a dropper under a dry fly to prospect newer water to figure out what the trout are eating. It’s a general enough looking fly that can be used just about anywhere.
This fly is made using:
- Red Glass Bead
- Tiemco 3761 Nymph Hook in size 16 (TMC3761)
- Pearl Chenille Fine Black
- Black UNI-Thread 6/0
Enjoy!
